The Maelström was born from the idea of offering unique accommodations to complement the numerous outdoor activities that the municipality of Lac-Beauport has to offer on its unique terrain.

The Maelström is located on the Mont-Tourbillon mountain. The area totals more than 36 million square feet. It is a unique location, only 20 minutes from Quebec City. This immense territory offers spectacular views of the surrounding area and the Quebec region.

This immense territory offers spectacular views of the surrounding area and the Quebec City region. On one side you can appreciate the mountains, Stoneham ski resort, and on others, you can admire the St-Lawrence river and the Appalachians.

Driving to the Maelstrom could not be easier, only 20 minutes from Quebec City, you can reach the mountain from Chemin du Moulin, and from there, a network of logging roads will allow you to explore.

Monetizing your investment with short term rentals

Investors have the opportunity to acquire a lot in a recreational area where outdoor activities are placed at the forefront. Located on protected land, the magical Maelstrom is perfect for outdoor lovers seeking a return on investment.

The lots that are still available (25 )are for a minimum area of 430,600 square feet or 4 hectares. On that land, current regulations allow you to build an eco-friendly lodging/relais rustique, with a maximum of 20 square meter (two floors with a maximum height of 8 meters) or a sugar shack of 50 square meter (1 floor).

Maelström holds a tourist permit issued by the Quebec Tourism Industry Corporation.

We offer an all inclusive short-term rental management service for your eco-friendly lodging/relais rustique so you don’t have to worry about anything. From the listing of your property, to the rental process and the maintenance of your lodging, everything is taken care of. Our fees are collected as a percentage of your rental income

Year round activities

Mountain bike and fat bike

The mountain was selected as part of the development plan for the Sentiers du moulin trail network. Within this plan, more than 25 km of mountain bike trails will be developed in the coming two years on the Maelström, which is to become an integral part of the larger Sentiers du moulin trail network. A first round of government funding of 200,000$ has been announced in August 2018 to start this new project. Notably, a multifunctional trail, which should be accessible to people of all skills is in the works along with The Wolverine, Slab City, Gold City and other signature mountain bike trails.

Trail running

A trail for runners currently exists on the mountain since 2017 and is maintained by a local organism, la Clinique du coureur.

Snowmobile

In addition, you can get to Mont-Tourbillon mountain by using the federated network of snowmobile trails which crosses from the south to the north.
